Driver of a suburban local train was injured after its engine hit the dead-end buffer at the Nampally railway station here this morning, officials said.

The incident took place around 7.45 AM on platform no. 2 of the railway station as the driver of a Multi Modal Transport System (MMTS) train, a local rail service, passed beyond the stop board, railway officials said, adding that no passenger was injured in the incident.

"The train was at a very slow speed and coming for a stop at the end of the platform where the driver is supposed to stop it (last station of journey)," a South Central Railway official said, adding however, he overshot by a few meters and bumped into the dead-end buffer.

"The driver got stuck inside the cabin. The railway officials rescued him and was later shifted to a hospital. None of the passengers were injured and the incident has not caused any problem for the movement of trains," he said.
