The police said middle-aged Sukhamoy Biswas broke his leg but survived by getting stuck on a water supply pipeline 20-ft below the ground at Palashbagan.
The groud caved in when he was standing in front of his house this morning.
Biswas was admitted to Ranigunj hospital.
