A prisoner was seriously injured today after four undertrials travelling with him in a police van allegedly attacked him, police said.
The incident happened when Ankur and seven other prisoners were being shifted to the Central Jail here in the police van from Jhunjhunu, they said.
When the van reached Sikar, four of the prisoners attacked Ankur with handcuffs seriously injuring him on his head and ears, police said, adding that, Ankur was first taken to a government hospital in Sikar from where he was shifted to the SMS hospital here.
Police, who promised looking into the matter, however, suspect that these inmates might have attacked Ankur over some old enmity.
