One killed, 12 injured in school bus mishap

A 12-year-old boy died and 12 other students were injured when a private school bus overturned after colliding with a jeep outside the institute on Phagwara-Jandiala road, ten kms from here, police said today.

The bus belonged to Sahibzada Ajit Singh Public School of near by Sarhali village, they said.

The deceased Harish (12), a fourth standard student, was the resident of Jagatpur Jattan village of Phagwara Block.

Bus driver Jaswant Singh fled from the scene after the accident while jeep driver Sanbir Singh has been hospitalised, police said.

The injured students, aged between five and fifteen years, are getting treated in private and government hospitals here.
