One killed as truck falls into river

One person was killed and two others injured after a truck veered off a bridge and fell into the Maiz river in Papadi village here, police said today.

The incident took place late last night after the driver of the cement-laden truck lost control of his vehicle, said Prem Chand Gujjar, SHO, Lakheri police station.

Police rescued Ganesh Kavet (26), Ram Singh Mali (40) and Sitaram Meena, all residents of Uniyara village of Tonk district, from the cabin of the truck in a critical condition.

They were rushed to Maharao Bheem Singh Hospital in Kota where Ganesh succumbed, the SHO said, adding that the other two are undergoing treatment.
 

The body of the deceased was handed over to his family members after post mortem today.
