One killed, four injured in grenade attack

One person was killed and four others injured today by suspected anti-talk NDFB (Songbijit) insurgents who exploded two grenades and fired indiscriminately at Molandubi Market in Assam's Kokrajhar district, police said.

Six militants riding three motorcycles swooped on the market in Kajigaon police station area and opened indiscriminate fire at a pharmacy there, killing its owner Motleb Sekh (25) on the spot around 2.45 pm, police said.

Agitated people tried to catch the militants who then lobbed five grenades, injuring four persons, police said.

Iman Ali, Amir Ali, Noseruddin Mandal and Nasok Chandra Marak were injured. Iman was critically injured.
 

The police and CRPF which rushed to the spot later seized three unexploded grenades for safely defusing them.

The suspected militants fled away after the incident from the same route they came, eyewitnesses said.
