One killed in clash between two groups

An elderly man was shot dead and another got injured in a clash between two political groups in Bharsi village in Shamli district here, police said today.

"Virender (60) was shot dead, while Brijender has received bullet injuries yesterday after a clash broke out between supporters of two groups over some old enmity that started during a panchayat election," said police.

Tension has gripped the village since the incident and extra police force has been deployed in the area, police added.

In another case, a 25-year-old man was shot dead by unidentified men at Rehakra village in the district, police said today.
 

Jogender (25), a labourer, was shot dead by unidentified miscreants at Rehakra village in the district yesterday, police said.

No arrest has been made so far and the case is being investigated, they added.
