One killed in clash; five critical

One person was killed and five others were critically injured in a clash between two groups following a mishap on Ahmedabad-Mehsana highway here today, police said.

"A clash broke out between two groups belonging to the same community after a car carrying pilgrims hit some labourers working along the roadside," Police Inspector H B Wala of Mehsana said.

The pilgrims were travelling from Sola area of Ahmedabad to Umiya Mata temple in Unjha town of Mehsana.

"The vehicle knocked down the workers which triggered a clash between labourers and pilgrims. Both the groups attacked each other in which one person, who sustained knife wounds, died on way to hospital," he said.
 

Five of the seven people who were injured in the incident, are critical and were rushed to the civil hospital at Ahmedabad.
