One killed in tiger attack at Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve

In a second incident of man-animal conflict in the district, a person was killed in a tiger attack on Thursday.

The unfortunate incident occurred at Kolara Gate, one of the entry gates of the Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve (TATR), here.

According to information available here, one Vithoba Nagose, a resident of village Kolara who had gone into the forest was killed in a tiger attack near Kolara Gate at around 6.30 pm today.

Divisional Forest Officer (TATR), Girish Kumar Vashishtha, while confirming the incident said that Deputy Director (Core), Sujay Doadal and other officials have reached the spot to assess the exact sequence of the tiger attack.
 

"Since the incident took place in the evening and the area is not under the network of cellular phones, I can only confirm the incident as it is officially received by us in the evening. The formalities for assessing the cause of death and the related issues of compensation would follow on Friday. It is an unfortunate incident and might be attributed to man-animal conflict," Vashishtha said.

It may be noted here that a woman namely, Poonam Shende (43), a resident of village Lohara, around 8 km from the city, was killed in a tiger attack in Lohara forests under West Chanda Division of Forest Development Corporation of Maharashtra (FDCM) on Wednesday afternoon.
