One killed, six injured as car hits truck in Odisha

A man was killed and six of his family members injured when a car carrying them hit a stationary truck in Odisha's Balasore district on Wednesday, a police officer said.

All seven of them, residents of Liluah in West Bengal, were on their way home after a short visit to Raipur in Chhattisgarh and the temple town of Puri in Odisha, he said.

Around 5 am, their vehicle rammed into the truck, parked along National Highway 60, near Haldipada in the district, the officer said.

While one person died on the spot, six injured were taken to a district headquarters hospital here, he said, adding that the deceased has been identified as 45-year-old Neera Bora.
