A senior Pakistani police official was killed and two others were injured today in a blast in Pakistan's southwestern Balochistan province, according to a media report.
The nature of the blast has not yet been ascertained, although initial reports suggest it was caused by an Improvised Explosive Device targeting a vehicle carrying the police officials, Dawn News reported.
District Police Officer Killa Abdullah Sajid Mohmand, who was critically wounded in the blast, succumbed to his injuries. Two other police officials who were in the vehicle were also seriously injured, the report said.
An emergency has been declared in hospitals and law enforcement and rescue officials have been dispatched to the site of the incident.
