Nearly one lakh people would participate in the "Hindu Samajotsava" to be held here on March 1, Vishwa Hindu Parishad regional working president M B Puranik has said.

A grand procession would be taken from the Ambedkar circle to the meeting venue and activists from the entire Dakshina Kannada region would be taking part in the event, he said in a release here.

Pejawar Mutt seer Vishwesha Theeratha would address the event, in which 20 seers would be participating. Sadhwi Saraswati from Madhya Pradesh would deliver the keynote address at the function to be presided over by Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari D Veerendra Heggade, he said.

Meanwhile, another Hindu outfit Sri Ram Sene (SRS) has come out in support of the event. SRS president Anand Shetty told reporters that it was for the first time that the VHP had invited the organisation to attend the meeting organised by them.

Such meetings would create oneness among the people and create awareness among them to fight against anti-social elements, he said.
