one maoist taken to Kozhikode in connection with case

Anoop, one of the five Maoists detained under NSA, was today taken from the central prison here to Kozhikode in Kerala to be produced in a court there in connection with a case.

District Collector Archana Patnaik had ordered the detention of five maoists-- Roopesh, wanted in 20 cases in Kerala, his wife Shyna, Anoop, Kannan and Eswaran-- who were arrested from Karumathapatti on the outskirts of the city in the first week of May.

They were lodged in Central jail here and have often been taken from here to kerala in connection with various cases.

Kerala police presented the requisite documents and warrant to Jail authorities and took Anoop to Kozhikode early this morning, police said.
