One more person was arrested from Tamil Nadu for allegedly being involved in multi-crore inter-state narcotics racket, police said today.

The accused, Paulraj Duraiswami alias Paul, is a vital link in a multi-crore inter-state narcotics racket and is alleged to have played key role in supplying a mephedrone consignment which was recently seized from head constable Kalokhe, Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Atul Chandra Kulkarni said.

He was arrested by the Mumbai police crime branch and produced in court, after which he was sent to police custody until May 19, Kulkarni said.

Kalokhe, a head constable at the Marine Drive police station in Mumbai, was arrested on March 9 after 110 kg of mephedrone worth crores of rupees was seized from his house in a village, in Satara district of Maharashtra, by the Satara police.

The next day, 12 kg of mephedrone was seized from head constable Kalokhe's cupboard at the Marine Drive police station.

"Samuel, another accused in the case spilled the beans during interrogation and named Paul as the man who supplied him mephedrone, after which our team launched a manhunt. We nabbed him from Trichy in Tamil Nadu and obtained his transit remand," Kulkarni said.

"Baby's brother Shatrughna alias Basha introduced her sister to Samuel, who already knew Paul. Then they all became part of running the narcotics racket," Kulkarni said.

Mephedrone is a party drug, which is extremely popular in western countries and is now increasingly becoming a major drug being abused in India.

Incidentally, the Mumbai police crime branch has already nabbed Shashikala alias Baby Patankar, besides police head constable Dharmaraj Kalokhe as well as Samuel.

Earlier, the Mumbai police had informed that Baby Patankar and police head constable Kalokhe were in a relationship since 1996.

Head constable Kalokhe has been booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and is currently in judicial custody.
