The Haryana Government has decided to grant the hitherto left out schools a window of opportunity up to December 31, for applying for recognition as 'existing' institutions.

"Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has acceded to this proposal of the Education Department and thereby met the long pending demand of the private schools which have so far not been included among 'existing schools' under the Haryana School Education Rules, 2003," Education Minister Ram Bilas Sharma said today.

Sharma said that now such schools should quickly utilise the opportunity by applying to the District Education Officers and District Elementary Education Officers concerned for this consideration.

The documents determining 'existing status' would remain the same as notified vide a letter dated April 6, 2007, he said, according to an official release.

Giving further information, the Minister said that those schools which had come into existence up to March 31, 2007, have been defined as 'existing schools' in the Haryana School Education Rules, 2003. Further, vide a letter date April 6, 2007, certain documents were prescribed which would determine the 'existing status' of the school up to March 31, 2007.

He said that the schools concerned were asked to apply for the 'existing status' by April 10, 2007, then again in 2013, and on August 13, 2014, further relaxation of one month was given. The schools concerned were to apply for this purpose by September 30, 2014, at the latest, he added.

The Minister added that in spite of being provided various opportunities for applying for getting 'existing school' status, some schools have been reported to be left out and were requesting for one more chance for making application.

"Today's decision will benefit all such schools," the Education Minister pointed out.
