One more dies of H1N1 in MP; 2012 toll rises to 16

A total of 16 people have died in the state due to the deadly viral infection since January 1, including the one reported from Indore today, K K Thassu, In-charge of Swine Flu Cell in Madhya Pradesh, told PTI.

96 people, including 28 in Indore, have tested positive for H1N1 influenza in the state so far in 2012, he said.

A person belonging to Dhar town in Malwa region succumbed to the virus at a private hospital at Indore, Health Department officer G L Sodhi said.

He was admitted to the hospital with H1N1-like symptoms on September 10, Sodhi said.

 

Three doctors suffering with the disease have been admitted in hospitals in the state, Health Department sources said.

Among the 16 swine flu victims, seven died in Bhopal, six in Indore, two in Ujjain and one in Gwalior.

Chief Secretary R Parsuram, reviewing the situation following fresh outbreak of the disease in MP, advised people as well as doctors and paramedical staff to remain alert while dealing with the infection.

Parsuram directed officials to speed up sample testing at labs to ensure prompt medical attention to the patients.
