One more H1N1 patient dies in Kerala

The woman from Chavara in Kollam district died at a private hospital. She had earlier tested positive for H1N1 and was also suffering from diabetes, a release from the Directorate of Health Services said.

This is the third swine flu death this month. A 59-year- old man died in a private hospital in Thrissur district on July 10 and a 42-year-old woman succumbed to the infection in Sulthan Bathery in Wayanad district on July 14.

The total number of H1N1 cases reported in the state in the last seven months rose to 362 with three fresh cases since yesterday.

Kozhikode accounted for 115 cases reported since January this year, followed by Malappuram 66, Kasargode 38, Kannur 40, Thrissur 42, Wyanad 25, Kottayam 10, Ernakulam 10, Alapuzha 10, Kannur five, Palakkad three, Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam one each, the release said.

 

The department has stepped up measures to detect, test and treat patients suffering from the infection.
