One more held in kidney sale case

The police today arrested yet another middleman in connection with the sensational kidney sale racket in the city, taking the number of arrest in this case to two.

The twin city police commissioner R P Sharma said that the Cuttack police arrested Nirakar Dehuri from his native place in Mahakalpada of Kendrapada district on Thursday night in connection with the case.

Sharma said Nirakar was working as an agent of a private hospital.

The city police had earlier arrested one Sharmishta Jena, believed to be the mastermind in the organ sale racket in the city. Sharmishta had allegedly enticed a poor woman of the city to part with one of her kidneys in exchange for money.
