Two days after the CEO of a jute mill at Bhadreswar was lynched for declining to increase working hours, another mill declared suspension of work today citing labour unrest for a similar reason.
The suspension of work notice was put up by the management of the Auckland Jute Mill at Jagaddal in North 24 Parganas district, DC DD of Barrackpore police commissionerate C Sudhakar said.
Mill workers set up a road blockade on the Naihati-Barrackpore Road and demonstrated demanding increase in work hours after it was reduced recently, Sudhakar said.
