One Nation one card, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, enables seamless travel by metro rails and other transport systems across the country besides retail shopping, Parliament was informed Monday.
The card was launched on March 4, 2019 in Ahmedabad.
"This National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) enables seamless travel by metro rails and other transport systems across the country besides retail shopping and purchases," Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari said in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha.
The NCMC programme, as envisaged by Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs, offers offline transactions independent of network connectivity by utilising the existing infrastructure with banks, he said.
This card may be used for all payment applications (low value - offline/high value - online) including transit, retail, toll, parking and smart cities, the minister noted.
The stored value of the card offers the offline transaction proposition across all low value segments, he added.
