A naxal carrying a bounty of Rs 10,000 on his head was arrested from Surajpur district in Chhattisgarh, police said today.

Chottu alias Jagdish Gond (28) was arrested from his home district Surajpur in Chhattisgarh last night by Singrauli police, district SP Rudolf Alvares told PTI.

He said Chottu was wanted in three cases of extortion in the district and was a member of a 'dalam' (group) which operated here for the last one decade.

The rebel was absconding since 2007 when he along with 11 other naxals committed the first crime here.

The place from where Chottu was nabbed in Surajpur is nearly 130 kms away from here, the officer added.
