One naxal was killed and three District Reserve Guard (DRG) jawans were injured in an encounter between security forces and Maoist rebels in Chhattisgarhs insurgency-hit Sukma district today, police said.
The incident took place in Gogunda-Mudopara forest under Phulbagdi police station when a team of the DRG was out on an anti-Maoist operation, Special Director General of Police (anti-naxal operations) DM Awasthi told PTI.
He said that the rebels triggered an improvised explosive device (IED) when the DRG patrolling team reached the forest of Gogunda-Mudopara, around 500 kms away from here.

"After the firing stopped, security forces recovered the body of one ultra along with a 12 bore gun, Claymore mine and other explosives from the spot," Awasthi said.
The injured DRG personnel, assistant constables Ishwar Lal Sori, Raju and sainik Padami Hidma, were airlifted to Raipur and admitted at a local hospital where their condition was said to be normal, he said.
The identity of the killed naxal was yet to be ascertained, he added.
