One pedestrian killed, two others injured in road accident

A 65-year-old pedestrian was crushed and another one was injured after a speeding car hit them on the Ghodbunder Road, at Manpada opposite the R Mall this evening at about 4.30 pm, the Thane police said.

Senior police inspector S S Kadam, of the Kapurbawdi police station said that the senior citizen Padasheri George Mathew was at the bus stop when a Swift car from Thane towards Ghodbunder hit him.

While Mathew died on the spot, another pedestrian Deepak Shitalprasad Dubey (25) and Rohan Raman, was injured and hospitalised, the police said.

The driver, Pratap Pravin Dhuri (21) a resident of Devdaya Nagar, has been arrested on charges of rash and negligent driving.
 

According to the police liquor bottles were found in the car which was involved in the accident.

Dhuri has been charged under Sections 279, 227, 338 and 304 of the Indian Penal Code and further investigations are on, the police said.
