One person was killed and at least 200 houses damaged as hail storm accompanied by rain hit many parts of Unakoti and North Tripura district, official sources said today.
Giridhari Orang (65) died on the spot at Samrurchhara village of Unakoti district last night when his bamboo made thatched house collapsed on him during the storm, the sources said.
Unakoti district administration today paid Rs 10,000 to the next of kin of Orang, they said.
At least 70 houses were partly or fully damaged in the storm and rain in Unakoti district and many electric and telephone posts were uprooted, sources said.
In North Tripura district around 35 houses collapsed and 80 houses were partly damaged in Kanchanpur sub-division of the district and unspecified number of electric and telephone posts were damaged in the storm and rain last night, the sources said.
