One poacher killed, two arrested in Assam

One poacher was killed and two others were arrested today from different places in the state.

According to Kaziranga National Park DFO Seal Sarma, forest guards and police killed a poacher in an encounter and recovered a modified AK-47 rifle and 16 rounds of live cartridges from Gotonga anti-poaching camp under Bagori Range.

The body of the slain poacher is yet to be identified.

Four poachers have been killed by KNP forest guards in 2014.

Meanwhile, two poachers were arrested from Morigaon near Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary.

According to police officials, the duo have been identified as Khairul Islam and Hanif Ali.
 

These two poachers were involved in rhino killing in Kaziranga National Park and Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary, sources said.
