Press Trust of India New Delhi
Delhi Transport Department today ordered reservation of one seat just behind the driver for blind persons in all the stage carriages (DTC, clusters, Metro feeder and private mini buses).

The department's move comes few days after Transport Minister Gopal Rai had directed Transport Commissioner Gitanjali Gupta at his public-hearing at Burari Transport Authority.

In her order, Gupta said, "One seat just behind the driver of all the stage carriages (DTC, cluster, Metro Feeder and private mini buses) having permit issued by State Transport Authority shall be reserved for blind person."

The inscription "Reserved for blind persons" in the manner and language in which other inscriptions are written inside the bus shall be painted just above the seat, she said.

"The crew member of the bus shall facilitate such persons in occupying the seat reserved for them," she added.
