One-stop centres for women to be setup in U'khand

The Centre will help the Uttarakhand government in setting up one-stop centres for women who have suffered domestic violence.

The offer was made by Union Women and Child Welfare Minister Maneka Gandhi at a meeting with Chief Minister Harish Rawat, an official release here said today.

Assuring the Union minister of all co-operation in this venture, Rawat said his government is keen to establish two one-stop centres, one each in Dehradun and Haldwani to give shelter to women in distress especially victims of domestic violence.

He also apprised Gandhi of steps being taken by the state government for the welfare of women and children such as fighting anemia among women and reducing child mortality rate.
