ONGC moves up in Newsweek Green ranking

State-owned Oil and Natural Gas Corp (ONGC) has moved up several notches on the prestigious The Newsweek Green Ranking, 2014.

"In a quantum leap from 386 in 2012 to 217, ONGC stands third among seven Indian companies making to the prestigious list," the company said in a statement here.

The Newsweek Green Ranking is among the world's most recognised assessments of corporate environmental performance.

It assess the environmental performance of the largest publicly-traded companies around the world. The rankings provide a reliable, cross-industry framework for comparing the environmental commitment and performance of major companies.

"This ranking marks yet another feather in the cap of ONGC, following recent global recognitions including making it the Most Admired Companies list of the Fortune 500 and climbing two ranks over previous listing among Global Energy Companies in Forbes 2000," the statement said.
 

ONGC said the rankings reaffirm its long-standing commitment towards responsible business ethics interwoven with optimised efforts for sustainable growth.
