ONGC provides flood relief in Assam

Two leading unions affiliated to the ONGC, Association of Scientific and Technical Officers (ASTO) and Employees' Welfare Committee (EWC)of Assam Asset, had jointly organized a relief camp at Rupohimukh recently, an ONGC release said here today.

Three thousand mosquito nets and kitchen utensils were distributed among the affected families of four villages in the camp.

Apart from this, ONGC has contributed Rs one crore to the Assam Chief Minister's Relief Fund, the release said.

ONGC Chairman cum Manging Director Sudhir Vasudeva handed over the cheque to Assam's Resident Commissioner Himangshu Shekhar Das in New Delhi last week.

The release said this is the highest amount of monetary support contributed by any corporate to the chief minister's relief fund to meet the worst ever flood Assam faced in recent times.

 

Sivasagar, the nerve centre of ONGC's operations, is one of the 24 flood hit districts of Assam.
