Online hiring in India rose 11 per cent in April on a year-on-year basis, indicating that the positive trend for job opportunities will continue in the coming months.
According to leading job portal Monster.Com, there has been a consistent improvement in online recruitment since the start of this year compared to the year-ago period.
On a month-on-month basis however, the index remained unchanged in April over March.

"The April index gives us the confidence that job opportunities will demonstrate a positive trend in coming months," Monster.Com Managing Director (India/Middle-East/ South East Asia) Sanjay Modi said.
IT (software/hardware) and travel/tourism industry sectors have witnessed a growing trend. Engineering, Cement, Construction, Iron/Steel sectors also displayed an uptrend in recruitment levels.
Year-on-year, online recruitment activity exceeded in 16 of the 27 industry sectors monitored by the Index.
Meanwhile, online hiring expanded in 11 out of the 13 occupation groups monitored by the Index. Demand for hiring senior management professionals has seen a noteworthy incline across occupational groups.
A city-wise analysis shows that, online opportunities exceeded the year-ago level in 10 of the 13 cities monitored by the Index.
Ahmedabad toppled Bangalore to lead all monitored cities in long-term growth. Chennai aside all major cities recorded a double digit growth between April 2013 and 2014. Recruitment activities in Mumbai grew 14 per cent; Delhi-NCR (10 per cent) and Hyderabad (up 11 per cent), while for Chennai it was (5 per cent) respectively.
Meanwhile, the Monster mPower search for Employers was voted 2014 Product of the Year (POY), in the Online Job Portals category based on an independent survey of over 18,000 people in India conducted by Nielsen.
