A white tigress, the last surviving big cat of the endangered species here, died at Kamla Nehru Zoo here, an official said today.
"The striped animal, Shivani, suspected to be suffering from jaundice, died last night. With this, the white tiger species has vanished from our place," Zoo in-charge Uttam Yadav told PTI.
A team of vets today conducted the postmortem of the big cat.

Yadav said the feline's body parts will be sent for further investigation.
The body of the tigress was disposed of after autopsy according to norms, he added.
"We are making attempts to bring a white tiger from Hyderabad zoo," Yadav said.
Shivani was born in the zoo six years ago, he said, adding that the average life span of tigers in Indian zoos is between 16 and 24.
