Oorja Talent Hunt Football tournament starts

Nagaland State League "Oorja - Central Armed Police Force (Oorja-CAPF) U-19 football Talent Hunt" tournament organised by 9 Assam Rifles under the aegis of Head Quarters IGAR (North) started here today.

Altogether 18 teams, eight each boys and girls teams from different schools and sports academy are competing in the tournament, which was kicked off by Nagaland Home Minister, Y Patton in presence of IGAR(N) Maj Gen Sanjay Gupta.

Speaking on the occasion, the Home Minister said Oorja tournament is an initiative of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi with objective to be part of Mission XI Million and to imbibe more passion and creating more platforms for the young football enthusiast of the Country.
 

Patton expressed hope that such a tournament would have a beneficial impact for the Naga players in getting more exposure and opportunities in exhibiting their talents.

The Minister said that Assam Rifles while upholding its motto "Friends of the Hill People" while keeping the state safe from any law and order problem and maintaining peace and tranquillity in the region, also involves civic action programmes and recruitment training for the Naga youth.
