Op Muskan-III: Odisha Police rescues 489 children in distress

The Odisha Police has been successful in rescuing 489 children in distress during the first three days of Operation Muskan-III, officials said.

"Odisha Police achieves laudable success in first three days of Operation Muskan-III. 489 children rescued, which includes 427 boys and 62 girls," DGP, crime, B K Sharma said in a tweet.

Operation Muskan-III, a dedicated campaign to trace missing children in and outside Odisha, was launched in joint efforts of Special Juvenile Police Unit (SJPU), Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP).

The children rescued from different places are lodged at two open shelters - Ruchika Social Service Organisation and Vishwa Jeevan Sangha - here.
 

While the first phase of Muskan-III is being carried out within Odisha, the second phase will focus on rescuing and tracing missing children from Odisha in other parts of the country. The second phase will be launched from July 31.

Eight special teams have been formed to trace, rescue and rehabilitate missing children under the operation, which will continue till August.
