Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Niranjan Patnaik today asked party members to work in villages as only those working at the grassroot level will get party tickets in the 2019 election.

Patnaik said this while presiding over a meeting of office bearers of 10 south Odisha districts at the Congress Bhawan here.

"Only members working at the grassroots level and connected with the people will get party tickets for the upcoming 2019 elections. Those sitting in Bhubaneswar will not get party ticket to contest the polls," he said.

Patnaik said the district committees now would submit a progress report every 15 days and in two three months the OPCC will come to know who amongst the party is working dedicatedly for the people. This way Congress will grow from strength to strength, he said.

OPCC Working President Pradeep Majhi said that every Zilla Parishad Zone would be considered as block and new presidents appointed in each of the ZP zones.

"The appointment of presidents will be over by the end of this month whereas the formation of booth level committee is likely to get completed by July 10," Majhi added.

Reportedly, the party will have a meeting tomorrow also with the presidents and working presidents of 23 other districts.
