Odisha Power Generation Corporation (OPGC) today said it has achieved highest annual PLF (Plant Load Factor) among all state sector thermal power units in the country for the second successive year.

As per the report published by Central Electricity Authority, Ib Thermal Power Station (ITPS) of OPGC has achieved highest PLF of 87.92 per cent in FY'17, which is also the fifth highest PLF achieved among all power plants in India, a company release said today.

This is the second time in a row when Ib Thermal Power Station has achieved highest PLF among all state sector thermal power units in India. In the FY 2015-16, ITPS topped the list with PLF of 84.5 per cent, the release said.

The achievement is the result of OPGC's consistent efforts to maintain efficient power production and aid the state in meeting the power requirements in Odisha.

This apart, ITPS, which currently has two thermal power units of 210 MW each in operation in the Ib Valley area of Jharsuguda, has surpassed many of its own previous records of operational excellence.

During 2016-17, the plant achieved highest ever yearly Plant Availability Factor of 95.28 per cent. Previous record was 93.57 per cent in 2012-13, the release said.
