Two persons were
arrested and 820 grams of opium seized from their possession in Odisha's Sambalpur district, police said today.
Acting on a tip off, police carried out an operation and arrested Md Samsuddin (35) of Motijharan and Sankar Sony (48) of Malipara of Sambalpur from Malipara-Fatak Road in the town yesterday, Inspector-in-charge of Town Police station, P.K. Sahu said.

Police intercepted them while they were walking on the Malipara-Fatak road.
During search, police seized the opium from their possession, he said adding the two were arrested under provisions of NDPS Act.
While 430 gram of opium was seized from the possession of Sankar Sony, 390 gram was seized from Md Samsuddin.
"They were going somewhere to sell the opium. We are inquiring into the matter. We are also inquiring about the source, from where they had brought the opium," said Sahu.
The market price of he seized opium will be around Rs 60,000, he said.
