Two persons were arrested for allegedly smuggling huge quantity of contraband substance from Khuzama Check Gate in Kohima district, an Excise department official said today.
According to DC Excise (narcotics) Pitongse Sangtam, Nagaland Excise Department narcotic cell personnel manning the interstate check gate at Khuzama seized four kg of opium worth around Rs 12 lakh in the international market from the two persons yesterday.
This was the biggest opium haul ever in the state, he claimed.
A case has been registered under Narcotic Drugs & Psychotropic Substances Act 1985, he said.
