The Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) today alleged Congress had carried out well-planned "Operation Blue Star" to divert the attention from hot issues of that time and sought details of "help" the then government had taken from UK.
"'Operation Blue Star' was well-planned...When this operation had been carried out in Golden Temple, condition of India was not good. Unemployment, poor law and order were hot issues at that time. To divert attention from such issues, Congress government had decided to go for it," Manjit Singh G K, President of DSGMC told reporters here.
He said after the confession by a UK government official that Indira Gandhi took help of British's government to carry out "Operation Blue Star" in 1984, and demanded that the "Prime Minister Manmohan Singh should come forward and tell the Sikh community about what type of help, including arms and advice, the then PM had taken from them."
British Foreign Secretary William Hague had said the UK had played no role in the actual operation. British's military role to flush out militants from the Golden Temple was "limited and purely advisory", he had said.
The DSGMC chief also demanded the Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi should name of those Congressmen allegedly involved in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.
Gandhi, during an interview to newschannel, had said that some Congress persons were probably involved in 1984 riots.
Singh also said that DSGMC and Akali Dal would take out a protest march "Walk for Justice" from Gurdwara Bangla Sahib to PM's residence in support of their demands on February 10.
Also, a march would be taken out from Tilak Nagar to PM's residence on February 14, he said.
Asked if Akali Dal would support Kejriwal-led government, which is also demanding SIT probe into the 1984 riots, he said we don't know which SIT Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was talking about.
"We only demand the formation of Supreme Court-appointed SIT to probe into 1984 riots. We can't trust Kejriwal as he was taking outside support of Congress, which led to riots. However, if Kejriwal and any political leaders participate in our march, we welcome them," he added.
