The Maharashtra Legislative Assembly was today adjourned thrice with Opposition parties boycotting the House proceedings protesting the alleged bias by the state government in distribution of development and drought relief funds in their constituencies.

As soon as the House assembled for the day at 11 AM, Deputy Speaker Vasant Purke adjourned it for 15 minutes as Opposition members were not present.

Later, a question related to proposal of Rajiv Gandhi student accident ex-gratia scheme (currently on pilot basis being rolled out for implementation all over the state) being put before the cabinet for approval, was taken up.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Harshvardhan Patil lamented the absence of Opposition members and said it will not be good to continue the proceedings without them.

The House was then adjourned till 12 noon. Later, Purke said the meeting between Opposition and government is still on and adjourned the house till 2 PM.

Yesterday the House witnessed uproarious scenes after Opposition members took the government to task on the funds issue, raised by Sena legislator Ashish Jaiswal, forcing adjournment of the House for the day amid slogan shouting.
