The Opposition in Rajasthan Assembly today questioned the government over its decision to reduce the weightage from 30 to 10 per cent, given to in-service doctors, in the entrance exam for admission to PG courses.
During the Zero Hour, opposition members raised the issue alleging that the decision will adversely affect those in-service doctors who are giving serving in rural areas and facing hardships.
Replying to the question, state Health and Family Welfare minister Kalicharan Saraf said that the government has tried to privode benefit to in-service doctors and freshers inclusively.
He said that 10 per cent weightage benefit will be given to in-service doctors in PG course seats who have either worked for two years in remote areas or three years in rural areas.
Earlier, the provision provided 10 per cent, 20 per cent and 30 per cent weightage benefit to doctors who have served in rural areas for one, two and three years respectively.
"The government had examined the weightage system and found that with 30 per cent weightage in-service doctors were getting more benefits whereas freshers were a deprived lot in Pre-PG entrance exam. 10 per cent weightage for in-service doctors will benefit both the candidates," Saraf said.
