Mobile phone maker Oppo expects to cross 10 per cent market share in India with the launch of Reno2 series smartphones, a senior company official said on Wednesday.
"Festival season is very critical that is why we have timed Reno2 series much ahead of the festivals so that sufficient stocks can be built up. Our products are across 60,000 outlets and we are expecting, with the launch of these models by end of this year, we should be close to double digit market," Oppo India Vice-President for Product and Marketing Sumit Walia said.
He was speaking on the sidelines of an event to unveil Reno2 series smartphones for Rs 36,990 and Rs 29,990 a unit. Oppo also unveiled Reno2F, but the company will disclose the price of the device later.
"India is the first country in the world to get Reno2 series. It has been conceptualised for all users planning to upgrade their phones in India. It will be made in India. With these models, we are looking at around 2-3 per cent additional market share," Walia said.
According to Counterpoint Research, Oppo had 8 per cent market share in India at the end of April-June quarter of 2019.
Walia said camera happens to be one of the most important factors when people make smartphone purchase decision, and the company's first Reno series smartphone, which has 10 times picture zoom in feature, received good response in Indian market.
"Therefore, we have decided to bring zoom feature for mid-segment of the market. 10 times zoom capability has been built in video also in the new series. In the case of still images, it will be 20 times digital zoom and 5 times hybrid zoom," Walia said.

He said the company will launch another 2-3 new models within a month to make devices available across all consumer segments.
Earlier this month, Oppo announced expansion of its smartphone manufacturing unit to double the production capacity by 2020 in India from 4 million at present. The company had said that it will use India as an export base for South Asia, West Asia and African countries.
The company also has plans to further scale up manufacturing capacity to produce 100 million smartphones annually at its Greater Noida facility, the smartphone maker had said.
