The Opposition Congress and NCP today created uproar in the Maharashtra Legislative Council for the fourth consecutive day over issues like compensation for farmers, forcing adjournment of the upper House.

The opposition members demanded compensation to the farmers affected by drought and to the kin of those who committed suicide. Congress MLC Manikrao Thackeray raised the issue of a statement made by Maharashtra Advocate General Srihari Aney on separate Vidarbha.

Opposition members stormed into the well and displayed posters. Following this, Deputy Chairperson Vasant Davkhare adjourned the House.

After the House assembled, uproarious scenes continued as opposition members raised slogans.

Davkhare then adjourned the House for the entire day.

Meanwhile, earlier in the day, amid uproar, the Deputy Chairperson once left the chair without adjourning the house saying "all party leader come to my chamber".

Recently, Aney had called for a referendum on the issue of carving out a separate Vidarbha state.
