Proceedings of the Jharkhand Assembly were today disrupted for half-an-hour as the Opposition sought to introduce two adjournment motions including that of sale of land for "peanuts" rate in the Santhal Pargana region to a private company.

Rejecting the adjournment motion brought by Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (Prajatantrik) Legislature Party leader Pradip Yadav, the Speaker Dinesh Oraon said the matter could be raised during the debate over budget allocations for Land and Revenue department tomorrow.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Saryu Roy also said the matter did not merit an adjournment motion and could be brought during the debate over budget allocations for Revenue and Land Reforms department.

Yadav, however, drew the attention of the Chair that rate of land in the Santhal Pargana region was fixed at peanuts, "hurting several farmers in lieu of one individual."

The House was disrupted for about 30 minutes in the morning session on two adjournment motions.

The second adjournment motion was brought by JMM MLA Kunal Sarangi on the 6th Jharkhand State Public Service Commission, demanding removal of discrepancy.

Both the motions were disapproved by the Chair.
