Opposition members today staged a walkout in the UP Assembly, criticising the "poor" law and order situation in the state and recovery of the body of a teenaged girl near the residence of the Chief Minister.
As soon as the House met at 11 AM, Leader of Opposition Swami Prasad Maurya (BSP) raised the issue and alleged that the state government has failed to control law and order due to which there was an atmosphere of fear in society.
He said the recovery of the body of a Class XII girl near the CM's residence showed that there was no "fear" of police among unscrupulous elements.

He was joined by Congress members, who also alleged that the SP government had failed on the law and order front.
"The government should ensure law and order. Due to the lawlessness, people of the state are agitated", Congress Legislative Party leader Pradeep Mathur said while talking to reporters outside the House.
The body of the girl was yesterday found in the high-security zone near the residence of the CM here.
The girl had left for school on February 10 but did not return after which her family members filed the FIR at Jankipuram Police Station.
