"The hike in price of petrol by Rs 7.50 a litre in one go is unprecedented in Independent India. The Central government has enhanced petrol and diesel prices 29 times in the last eight years," senior TDP leader M Narasimhulu lashed out.
The petrol price hike was UPA's "gift" to people on its third anniversary, he ridiculed.
CPI State Secretary K Narayana, who posted a statement on his Facebook page, likened the hike to "dacoits pouncing on hapless people and looting them".
CPM politburo member and state secretary B V Raghavulu too denounced the hike and demanded its withdrawal.
The two Left parties will organise protests against the hike across the state tomorrow. The TDP too is gearing up for an agitation against the hike.
Condemning the hike, Telangana Rashtra Samiti MLA T Harish Rao warned that people would teach the Congress a befitting lesson in the bypolls slated for June 12.
The TRS would launch an agitation across Telangana against the hike from tomorrow, he said.
