Opposition parties stalled Hansi Butana canal, alleges Hooda

"After taking reign in 2005, we had decided to ensure water supply to all the areas and constructed BML-HBL canal with a cost of Rs 350 crore, but the opposition parties had opposed this owing to their vested interest and the matter is pending with Supreme Court," Hooda said.

"I assure you that each drop of water would be equally shared after BML-HBL canal starts functioning," the Congress leader said.

He was addressing 'Samriti rally' organised on the occasion of 66th birth anniversary of former minister Surinder Singh.

The chief minister inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of developmental projects worth over Rs 67.64 crore in the presence of Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde, Haryana Public Health Engineering Minister Kiran Chaudhry and MP Shruti Chaudhry.

 

Hooda said that Bhiwani people were not getting the adequate water for irrigation purpose due to the "vested interested of some political parties".

Without naming anyone, Hooda said people were well aware about such political leaders.

Speaking on the occasion, Shinde said that Surinder Singh always worked for the welfare of farmers and he was the first in Haryana who had taken a decision to make land record computerised in the interest of the farming community.

Hooda also announced a number of developmental projects for Tosham constituency, including upgradation of community health centre, a 50-bed hospital provided that panchayat gives land, construction of primary health centre building at Jui, upgradation of a number of schools provided they fulfil the prescribed forms, setting up of 12 Anganwari centres in villages.
