Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council was rocked by noisy scenes by Opposition which staged a walkout from the House over the demand of holding a judicial probe into the deaths in Kashmir Valley during the five-month long unrest.

As the House assembled this morning, NC MLCs Showkat Ganai, Bashir Ahmed Veeri and Sajjad Ahmed Kitchloo stood up from their seats and raised the issue of the chief minister's remarks that Kashmir unrest was a "well planned conspiracy".

They were supported by the Congress members including Ghulam Nabi Monga and Naresh Gupta. They demanded that a judicial probe be ordered to ascertain who was behind the unrest in Kashmir Valley.

Referring to the unrest in Kashmir, which left several people dead and many injured, the chief minister had yesterday said that the unrest took place under a "well-planned conspiracy".

"If it is so, then the government should order probe to find out who were behind all this and they should be punished. For this, we demand a judicial probe," Veeri said.

In a similar vein, Kitchloo and Monga also batted strongly for a judicial probe and demanded a reply from the government.

Failure to get the reply, the opposition members of National Conference and Congress trooped into the well of the House, raising newspapers and disrupting the proceedings.

They then staged a walkout from the House.
