Opposition BJP and JD(S) today staged a walkout from the Assembly expressing anger over absence of ministers, ruling party members and officials from the House.

As the House met, opposition led by its leader Jagadish Shettar and Deputy Leader R Ashoka raised objections about the vacant treasury benches.

They were joined by JD(S) leader Y S V Datta and other MLAs of his party as only three to four ministers were present in the House.

Shettar said ministers and ruling party members were not present and this is disrespectful.

BJP and JD(S) leaders questioned the way government was running the House accusing it of not showing interest to public issues. They said House should be adjourned and as "there is no use running the House like this."

Deputy Speaker Shivashankar Reddy's repeated attempts to convince the opposition went in vain.

BJP leaders walked out condemning the attitude of the government as JD(S) MLA's also followed them.

Later Shettar, who came back to the House when Congress MLA Prasanna Kumar was speaking on the motion of thanks to the the Governor for his address, raised a point of order for allowing the House to function when there was no quorum which was rejected by the Deputy Speaker.
