Orderly system in police department to end soon: Parameshwara

The orderly system in police department will come to an end soon and police deployed on such duty would be given normal police functions, Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara said today.

About 2900 policemen were presently engaged on orderly duty, Parameshwara said, addressing police personnel at 'Suvarna Vidhan Soudha' after giving away promotion to policemen.

He said 1555 policemen were given promotion in Belagavi division and added that mass promotion of 12000 police staff had been effected across the state.

"Discipline, people friendly and duty bounded mindset are the 'mantra' of good policing. With every promotion responsibility also increases," he added.
 

Status of government getting good or bad name depends on how the police function, Parameshwara said.

Parameshwara also said the police department had been strengthened by providing modern arms, 900 cars and jeeps for local patrolling and 140 cars for highway patrolling.
