Organs of 65-year-old brain dead man harvested

A 65-year-old man, who was declared brain dead, today became instrumental in giving new lease of life to five persons, after his vital organs were harvested and given to the needy.

Subburaj suffered severe head injury after his motorcycle was hit by a four-wheeler yesterday and was admitted to the Kovai Medical Centre and Hospital.

He was declared brain dead around 3 AM today and his wife, Sitalakshmi gave consent to donate the organs, a release from KMCH said.

Dr.Vivekanandan and Dr Magnus Mansard, Liver Surgeons and Dr.Kuppurajan, Consultant Urologist of KMCH and doctors from Aravind Eye Hospital harvested the organs.
 

The liver and two kidneys were donated to KMCH and eyes to Aravind Eye Hospital, here.

Subburaj was working as an accountant in a private concern.
